Media personality and former Machakos First Lady Lilian Ng’ang’a has sparked conversation online after openly criticising the rising trend of cosmetic procedures among young Kenyan influencers.
Speaking in a recent interview, Ng’ang’a stressed that no shortcut can replace discipline, consistency, and intentional self-care.
“Nothing tops healthy eating and exercise,” she said.
Her remarks come just days after several Gen Z influencers — Pritty Vishy, Lydia Wanjiru, and Gloria Ntanzola — revealed that they had undergone various cosmetic enhancements, ranging from body sculpting to facial procedures. Their revelations triggered mixed reactions across social media, with some praising their confidence and others questioning the fast-growing trend among very young celebrities.

A Message to Gen Z
Her comments have reignited the broader debate on body image, social media influence, and the rising popularity of cosmetic alterations in Kenya. Many fans praised her for promoting wellness, while others argued that Gen Z celebrities should be free to make decisions about their bodies without criticism.
The discussion continues to grow as more public figures weigh in on the balance between self-expression, health, and societal pressures.
