As the festive season brought joy to many across the country, Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi chose to mark Christmas in a deeply meaningful way — by spending time with inmates at Kitale Prison, sharing gifts and words of encouragement with those often forgotten during the holidays.
In a visit that touched many hearts, the MP donated food items, essentials, and festive supplies to the inmates, emphasizing compassion, dignity, and second chances. Beyond the gifts, his message focused on hope, reform, and the belief that incarceration should not erase a person’s future.
Speaking during the visit, Amisi acknowledged the untapped potential among inmates, noting that many possess valuable skills acquired through vocational training programs while in custody. He pledged to champion employment opportunities for skilled inmates, particularly after their release, to help them reintegrate into society and avoid returning to crime.
“These are not lost people. They are Kenyans with talent, skills, and dreams. What they need is opportunity, not judgment,” he said.
The MP also praised prison officers for their efforts in rehabilitation and skills training, calling for stronger partnerships between government, private sector players, and correctional institutions to create sustainable pathways for former inmates.
The visit brought moments of joy, reflection, and renewed hope, with inmates expressing gratitude for being remembered during a season often marked by loneliness behind bars.
As Christmas celebrations continued across the country, Caleb Amisi’s gesture stood as a reminder that leadership rooted in compassion can restore dignity and inspire change — even behind prison walls.
